Laurie is a keen Rugby League player who has played in 21 Test matches and has Captained Australia 7 times. He has played for NSW 23 times and Captained NSW 13 times as well as 3 Super League Tri Series.

He played 330 senior games (244 with Canberra) and scored 586 points
Premiership wins with Canberra Raiders 1989, 1990, 1994.

First grade debut: 31 May, 1987 (Canberra v Cronulla)
Last game: 13 August 2000 (Canberra v Sydney Roosters).
